By default, your order timeline displays the status message - Order pending. This is a good starting point, but you can significantly improve the customer experience by adding more specific and timely updates.
To add custom messages, click on +Add Message.
Compose the message content and click on Send Message. Your customer will be notified by email (if you are collecting the email address during checkout).
Note
You can save the current message so that the same message can be used as a template in the future.
